Verdict

The iPhone 14 Pro is still one of the better older compact flagships. Its 6.1-inch ProMotion display, A16 chip and versatile camera system remain excellent, but its smaller battery, Lightning port and lack of Apple Intelligence make newer Pro models more attractive when prices are close.

The iPhone 14 Pro remains appealing because it combines full Pro hardware with a 6.1-inch body. Its Super Retina XDR OLED supports ProMotion up to 120Hz, always-on display functionality and the Dynamic Island, so it still feels much more modern than standard iPhones from the same period.

Performance remains strong thanks to the A16 Bionic. The chip is no longer Apple’s latest, but everyday speed, gaming and video editing are still excellent. The camera system is similarly capable: a 48MP main sensor is supported by an ultrawide and a dedicated 3x telephoto, giving the 14 Pro genuine optical flexibility.

The smaller body does come with compromises. Battery endurance is good rather than exceptional, and the stainless-steel frame makes the phone heavier than newer titanium Pro models. Lightning is another increasingly obvious limitation, especially for users who have moved the rest of their devices to USB-C.

The biggest software-era disadvantage is Apple Intelligence compatibility. The 14 Pro remains supported by current iOS versions, but it misses Apple’s newer AI platform. At the right used or refurbished price, however, it is still a highly capable compact flagship.

Buying advice

Choose the iPhone 14 Pro if you want a smaller premium iPhone and can find it well below newer Pro pricing. Avoid paying near-current flagship money for it because the newer generations improve connectivity, efficiency and feature support.
