The Galaxy Z Fold8 is the model that shows how far Samsung’s foldable engineering has progressed. Instead of chasing the maximum specification in every category, it focuses on making the book-style Fold easier to carry and use every day. At roughly 201g and around 4.5mm thick when unfolded, it approaches the weight of several ordinary large-screen flagships while still opening into a 7.6-inch tablet-like display.

That portability matters because the Fold’s real advantage is software. Samsung’s multi-window tools, taskbar-style navigation and app continuity make the larger screen useful for email, documents, browsing, maps and side-by-side apps rather than simply making content bigger. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy provides the performance expected at this price, and storage scales up to 1TB.

Battery capacity rises to 4,800mAh, a welcome improvement for a device driving two displays. Wired charging reaches 45W and wireless charging is also supported. These figures are not class-leading among premium Android phones, but they make the Fold8 easier to recommend as an all-day productivity device.

The major compromise is photography. Samsung uses a 50MP main camera and 50MP ultrawide but omits a dedicated telephoto. Digital cropping can cover occasional zoom needs, yet a device this expensive should ideally provide optical telephoto flexibility. Buyers who care deeply about cameras have a strong reason to consider the Z Fold8 Ultra instead.

Overall, the Z Fold8 may be the more sensible Samsung foldable for users who prioritize portability, multitasking and screen space over camera bragging rights. It is still expensive, but the lighter design makes the foldable concept feel less like a novelty and more like a practical everyday device.
