Overview

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 brings Samsung’s book-style foldable experience to a lighter, less extreme package than the Ultra model. It combines a 7.6-inch 120Hz folding display with a 5.5-inch cover screen and uses Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy for flagship performance. A 50MP stabilized main camera handles primary photography, while the reinforced hinge and IP48 protection support everyday foldable use. The 4,800mAh battery charges at up to 45W. Its main appeal is productivity: the large inner display, multi-window software and app continuity make it suitable for users who want phone and small-tablet functionality in a single pocketable device.

PhonicSpecs Review

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Review: Samsung’s Mainstream Fold Gets Lighter 8.8/10 editorial

The Galaxy Z Fold8 is Samsung’s lighter, more approachable productivity foldable, with excellent screens and performance but a trimmed camera system.

Our verdict

The Galaxy Z Fold8 is a mature, surprisingly light book-style foldable that excels at multitasking and portability. Its biggest limitation is camera ambition: Samsung removes the dedicated telephoto found on more premium models, which is difficult to ignore at this price.

Buying advice

Choose the Z Fold8 if you want Samsung’s foldable software and a lighter device without paying for the Ultra. Photography-focused buyers should compare the Z Fold8 Ultra, and users who rarely multitask may get better value from a conventional flagship.
